How long will you wait?
Joshua Chapters 17 – 19 Read it here
We see another example today of God’s promise being fulfilled. Remember the daughters of Zelophehad who were concerned about not getting an inheritance because their father had no sons? Well, in Chapter 17 they get their land.
As we go through the list of places and cities inherited by various members of the community, we see that sometimes the previous occupants aren’t willing to give it up, and the Israelites don’t always act as decisively as they have in some cases, leading to the messy situation of having foreigners living among them.
Joshua asks in 18:3, “How long will you wait before you begin to take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of you ancestors, has given you?”
I have to imagine that God often has the same frustration with us.
Like the ancient Israelites, we’re too quick to decide the task before us is too difficult or the forces arrayed against us are too strong.
God has given us a world to disciple. How long will we wait?

Lord, may we follow your leadership and fulfill the mission you have set before us.
