As we forgive…
Luke 10:1 – 11:36 Read it here
Today we read the familiar parable of the Good Samaritan, reminding us that even our enemies are our neighbors.
Then, in the Lord’s prayer we get the message even more directly. “Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.”
The thought that God forgives us by the same measure we forgive others is a sobering thought. If our own measure of forgiveness makes this uncomfortable, perhaps it’s time to start being more forgiving.
Sunday meditation
Proverbs 18:3-5
When wickedness comes, so does contempt, and with shame comes reproach.
The words of the mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.
It is not good to be partial to the wicked and so deprive the innocent of justice.
Prayer focus
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
