Day 221 1 Kings Chapters 5-6

I intend to build a temple for the Name of the Lord my God.'

The Temple
1 Kings Chapters 5-6
Solomon is able to complete the task God held back from his father, David, and builds the Temple to house the ark.
Like David did in building his house, Solomon uses wood imported from Lebanon for the construction and includes foreign workers in the project, as well as forced labor from among previous residents of the land.
Construction takes seven years to complete and results in a building grand enough to be a throne room for God.

Thursday meditation

Proverbs 22:24-27
Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared.
Do not be one who shakes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts; if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you.

Prayer focus
God, may our hearts, like Solomon’s Temple, be works of art dedicated to your worship.
